Not For The Weak of Mind

In 1542, Witchcraft became a civil offence in England. If one looks at the stipulations of the Witchcraft Act of that year one can see the problems as seen
through the eyes of the legislators. Under this law any person who invoked spirits to find money or to consume a person or property, to invoke unlawful love, or to
pull down crosses, tell the whereabouts of lost or stolen goods, heal or in any other manner act in a way that the clergy considered to be the unauthorized use of universal
or supernatural power, was a felon and liable to the penalty of death and confiscation of property. Both the Witch and those who
solicited her services were equally guilty and punishable.

Looking back through this tragic history of Witchcraft and magic there are many phases that have been passed through. The first was of simple sorcery and in a time that a
Witch doctor was a respected, supreme and presided over a kingdom of magic with authority. The second age of magic, the Witch Doctor was replaced by the magician priest who acted
as the middle man between man and the gods. The Witch Doctor became nothing more than a sorcerer in the eyes of the people. In the last great age of Witchcraft the priest was replaced
by the King who was regarded as semi-devine. The village wise man or cunning woman, white witch or conjurer, survived in the village if they were lucky.

The study of Witchcraft today is so far from the beaten path, and done so in an effort to make it acceptable and non-threatening. In the public eye, the only character to emerge
from the dark ages of Witchcraft is the white witch, while the black witch remains little more than a shadow and a legend. But are they really???

Some people say that a witch void of religion, is a sorceress/sorcerer.  Just to be clear, I do believe in a God, I also believe that even God made mention of other gods but pointed out that none were to be worshipped before the one true God.   Are the others personifications of God?  Different Gods?  Gods of different aspects of life and universe?  You must seek your own answers.  Are there such things as Christian Witches?  Personally, I do not think so.  There are Christians who are Witches but to be a Christian means that you accept the Bible as the word of God and if you do....then there is no denying that you are going against the very word that you say is God breathed.  I believe that if you are a Christian and you are practicing Witchcraft (which to me is a craft and not of its own religion) then you are probably going to be answering for it.  In my opinion, to call oneself a Christian Witch is a feeble attempt at saying that Witchcraft is acceptable to the Christian church.  Good luck with that.  The first thing that you must recognize is that if you want to know what the original bible text said, you will have to dig a lot deeper then todays translated versions.  Many words and meanings have been changed over time and much no longer has the same meaning that it originally did.  One example is the phrase "suffer not a witch to live".  That is not what the original text said.  I leave it up to you to seek and find the difference and what it means to you.

Witches are not satanic, nor are they evil by mere definition.  One can choose evil but you are not so simply by your choice of practicing Witchcraft.  What you do and what you use this power for will define good or bad.  Most Most Witches are not Christian and therefore do not believe in Satan as Satan is a concept of the Christian faith.  One can not worship that which they do not believe in.

I rarely call upon dieties, I work with spirits of many different natures.  I call upon familiar spirits, local spirits, angelic and even some demonic, depending upon what it is that I seek.  As stated elsewhere in this site, I do not subscribe to the "harm none" mode of crafting. My personal belief is that anyone who involves themselves in Witchcraft must be balanced.  I don't see how one can heal without the ability to harm.  Black/White, Good/Bad, Up/Down, Day/Night, Male/Female etc.  Each has its opposite and one without the other is out of balance.

My opinion of, what the mainstream calls, black magic is this.  Black magic speaks our truths.  None of us are without fault, none of us are without fears and wants and needs.  I don't believe that the witches of old made the choices that they did and took the risks that they did because they only wanted to help people or be white witches.  Magic itself has no color, only the intent of the crafter.  Black magic admits that sometimes we feel powerless and seek to change that.  I do not believe that crafters that take this path, more often then the high road, will have it come back at them three times over.  I believe that IF you believe that, it will, because you believe it.  Every bad thing that happens to you, in your mind, will be chalked up to your three fold theory regardless of the fact that those things may have happened to you regardless of anything you did.  I believe there is a price to pay for everything that you do, be it good - bad or indifferent.  The price is not always balanced.  You may do nothing but good and get nothing but bad in return.  On the other hand, do all people who do bad things suffer for them?  Certainly not.  If it were true that what you do comes back to you three fold then why do so many good people suffer their entire lives and then some of the most diabolical people on this planet live their lives in riches and fame?

I believe in taking personal responsibility for what you do, both in your mundane life and your path.  If you are working love spells on an intended target and that person becomes obsessed with you and you become a prisoner, there is your consequence.  If you are working healing spells and the person gets well only to end up getting something worse and suffering far more....there is your consequence.  If you work a nasty hex and end up seriously harming someone and then learn that they never intended you harm, you get to live with the guilt...there is your consequence.  If you practice in the black, you can become a darker person then you wanted to be, that is another consequence of that choice.  Losing the ability to love and forgive comes with giving it over to your dark side.  That is the importance of balance.

Does that mean that I think it okay to take away someones free will?  No, absolutely not, but I don't think you will suffer three times over for it, I think you will pay a real life conseqence of the universes choosing.

My thought is this.  If you don't want dark magic cast at you, don't piss off those who use it unless you are sure you have enough power to deflect what will happen to you.  There will always be someone with more power than you and there will always be someone willing to go farther down the darkened path to beat you.

There are thousands of wanna-be Witches in the world.  There are those that think that because they do rituals or attend sabbats, or work candle magic etc that they are Witches wielding power.  Just know that a fake can and will be spotted a mile away by the real deal and the real ones don't look kindly upon posers.  Truth be known, you can line up 100 people claiming to be witches in front of one who really is and the real one will be able to pick out the fakes in under a minute.  Being a seeker is honorable, own it and admit that you are seeking.  Then take the time to do it right.  Don't believe everything that you read on the internet as most of it is crap.

As the old saying goes, believe none of what you hear and only half of what you see.  You will know the truth when it finds you and if you seek honestly, it WILL find you.
